ICE Crackdown on Employers of Illegal Immigrants

March 11th, 2011 by

The office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a unit of the Department of Homeland Security,  announced a new  audit office,  the Employment Compliance Inspection Center.   The center will be staffed with specialists who will reveiw I-9 employee files collected during audits. In the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2010, ICE conducted audits of more than 2,740 companies, nearly twice as many as the previous year. The agency levied a record $7 million in civil fines on businesses that employed illegal workers.  Employers must complete the I-9 form within three days of hire and all documentation must be accurate.

This is crazy the government must not understand that americans are lazy. There is no way your average american no matter what age. White Black or Brown is gonna last more then a week at a majority of these fast food jobs. FOR $7.25 AN HOUR! The economy isn’t going to benefit it will suffer. All food industry jobs will suffer. Wake up people raise the minimum wage again and make it easier for 2nd generation illegals to become citizens. If you where born in another country yet you graduted high school in america it should be easier to become legal. I mean what sense does it make you can go to our schools but can’t work in our economy?

  2. Thank you for your comments. It is a challenge to balance the requirement to comply with the law against hiring needs for a business.
