Rust Recall Respiration Alertby Patric TimmermansSeveral OEMs including Hyundai, KIA and Toyota have issued recalls this year for replacement or a rust-proofing treatment of certain vehicles' sub-frames. KPA has been called a few times about complaints from some technicians about odor and headaches – this requires attention! While each OEM is treating the recall differently, we wanted to make sure that you are alert to health risks when dealing with these recalls. The application of any rust-proofing materials involves respiratory health risks, requires specific personal protective equipment, and requires compliance with federal, state and local environmental, safety and fire code requirements. Noncompliance can lead to employee health and safety risks or fines from regulatory agencies. KPA is very familiar with these procedures, which are not difficult to follow if you know what you’re doing. Contact your KPA Safety Engineer if you are a KPA client and you have questions. If you are not yet a KPA client, click here to request a call and find out how we can help you with your Respiratory Protection Plan. As a special offer, we can extend to you a very cost-effective offer for a Respiratory Protection Plan including a Facility Compliance Evaluation that will address these issues for a one-time fee of just $900. |
