Recycling – Airbags & Seatbelt Pre-Tensioners
KPA has created this un-deployed airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioner recovery program to assist small businesses with transportation logistics and to ensure DOT compliant transportation of these devices. After your purchase, KPA will provide you with the following by US mail:
• A return authorization sticker for your individually packaged airbag or seatbelt pre-tensioner.
• A shipping guidance checklist to ensure DOT shipping compliance
• Sample shipping papers
• Shipment telephone support and assistance
Your un-deployed airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners will be disassembled and 98% of the materials will be recycled for reuse in other products. KPA has audited the facility you are sending your un-deployed airbags to and has found no evidence of non-compliance. KPA will continue to monitor and audit the facility’s compliance on an annual basis.
Terms & Conditions:
Your un-deployed airbags & seatbelt pre-tensioners will be sent to the Promontory Airbag Recycling Center (PARC) in Promontary Utah. Additional information on this facility may be found at: www.parcrecycling.com. The federal EPA in a series of letters has made no objections to the PARC facilities handling of un-deployed airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners as off-specification commercial products with recyclable metals content. The PARC facility is not treating hazardous waste but rather is recycling materials, and in order to recycle these materials the modules are deactivated. In order to ship your un-deployed airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners to this facility they must be classified as hazardous materials not hazardous wastes. PARC cannot receive or process hazardous waste and will refuse shipments classified as such. You as the originator of the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners must make a determination as to what you are shipping. If you are unsure of your specific situation you may want to contact your state or federal EPA. Shipping of hazardous materials must be completed by an employee trained in all appropriate DOT regulations. KPA can provide your employees with appropriate training if needed. Ultimately materials from your facility are your responsibility. KPA has created this program solely to streamline the logistics and recycling process and cannot be responsible for the disposition of your materials, the actions of your employees, your selection of PARC as a recycling facility, or the actions of PARC. By ordering KPA’s shipment sticker and guidance service, you agree that KPA is not arranging for your hazardous materials transportation, or materials recycling. Further you agree to indemnify and hold harmless KPA to any and all claims arising out of the transportation, recycling or disposal of any materials transported under this process.
